I’m sure we all remember as kids the night before Christmas. There is that unbridled joy and expectation when you go to sleep on Dec. 24.
As I was an only child, I did not have the extra joy of having either brothers or sisters with whom to share these exceptional feelings. The moment you wake up Christmas morning (for me it was always around 4 a.m.), you go into your parents’ bedroom, finding some way to “disturb” mom or dad then asking: “Can we go down and open up the presents now?”
Until I was about 11, I never received permission to “go down” and see what treasures were...
