Know when stop for school buses

Examples of scenarios when motorists should stop for a school bus. In all cases, come to a complete stop when traveling behind or on an adjacent lane to the bus when the lights are flashing red and the stop sign is extended.

With in-person education back in session, motorists are reminded to be careful around school buses transporting kids to and from schools at certain times of the day.

Violation of Washington State laws could lead to a fine of $430.

Flashing yellow lights on the front and back of the bus indicate that the vehicle is about to stop to load or unload students, so motorists should slow down and be prepared to stop.

When the yellow flashing lights turn to red and the stop sign is out, drivers must come to a complete stop while the kids get on or off the bus.
