I find myself constantly amazed, having reached the distinguished age of three score and three, by what I don’t know. I know diddly-squat about hockey, for example. I have no idea who won the Peloponnesian War. There are other things.
And when it comes to the history of stuff, where it came from and who was responsible for it – I’m talking about important stuff, like airplanes – I’m typically impressed that something has either been around a lot longer than I thought, or vice-versa.
