COVID variants spread as vaccination continues

The mRNA vaccines seem to be working against even variants of COVID-19, as mutations of the virus continue to spread.
But Dr. Chris Spitters, health officer for the Snohomish Health District, said the current strains are preventing dangerous illness.
He deferred to Dr. Adam Jonas, medical director for Kaiser Permanente, for a question on whether variants in general were hospitalizing patients who were fully vaccinated.
“None so far,” Jonas said.
He said all of the hospitalized patients they are seeing at Providence are unvaccinated.
