Bayli is a scruffy family member with three legs and a lot of upcoming appointments.

The Aussie, Terrier, Boxer mix has been a gentle and constant companion to 2-year-old Kallen, son of Snohomish County Council member Jared Mead and his wife, Krystal.

Kallen was 1 when they brought Bayli home, and he outweighed the new puppy. She was a puff of fur who hailed from Texas, where no-kill shelters are less likely.

Bayli grew alongside her new buddy, who nicknamed her "Ba Ba."

"Now she's a monster – she's like 40 pounds and (Kallen was) still in the 20s," Mead said.
