University Book Store to close Mill Creek store

University Bookstore has announced it will be closing its Mill Creek store, deciding not to renew its lease. Doors will permanently close Oct. 19.
The University Book Store, located in the Mill Creek Town Center, announced on Sept. 5 that the store will not be renewing its lease.
A significant rental increase contributed to the decision, according to a news release. University Book Store itself remains a healthy business and will focus on its five Puget Sound area locations and a growing e-commerce business at ubookstore.com.
University Book Store has served the Mill Creek community for 15 years.
“We are sincerely grateful for the many friendships made and partnerships formed over the last fifteen years, but retail and the way people shop is rapidly evolving and we believe our Trust, which governs our operations, will be better served by primarily concentrating on our University of Washington campus stores and our website ubookstore.com,” CEO Louise Little said.
The Mill Creek store will close on Oct. 19, 2019.
