Two Grizzlies score tourney titles | Wrestling

Two Glacier Peak wrestlers won titles at the Spud Walley Invitational Saturday, Dec. 8, at Sedro-Woolley High School.
Senior Parker Hardy, who finished eighth at 120 at last season’s 4A state boys championships, scored 7-4 decision over Burlington-Edison’s Aaron Fisher in the 138 finals. Hardy recorded three straight pins to advance to the finals.
Teammate Kyle Nget defeated Anacortes’ Joshua Pittis 12-9 in the 120 finals. Nget recorded back-to-back falls in his other two matches.
Burlington-Edison won the team title with 260 points and was followed by Sedro-Woolley (148), Glacier Peak (127) and Kamiak (110).
Gavin MacDonald took third at 132, pinning Marysvile-Getchell’s Logan Adock. MacDonald’s only loss was to eventual champion Davis Cook of Burlington-Edison.
Mason Bridges finished third at 285. Bridges won a 4-2 decision over Burlington-Edison’s Cody Schutte.
Dylan Owen took fifth at 182, closing out the tournament with a pin of Meridian’s Corbin Marshall.
Keith Larkin finished sixth at 170 and Preston Barr also placed sixth at 220.
The Grizzlies (1-1) split their first two league matches, opening with a 54-24 victory over Mount Vernon and a 45-36 loss to Mariner in Wesco 4A dual meets on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Jackson High School.
Glacier Peak is scheduled to attend the Pacific Coast Wrestling Championships Friday/Saturday, Dec. 28-29, at Mountain View High School in Vancouver, and then will be at the Panther Classic Saturday, Jan. 5, at Snohomish High School.
