Last updated 9/14/2017 at Noon

Firefighters had to attack a fire from outside after the blaze burst through the roof, threatening structural collapse on Thursday of a house on the 2500 block of 124th Place SE.

A two-alarm fire caused more than $400,000 damage to a home in unincorporated Everett east of Silver Lake Thursday morning.

A passerby called 911 at 11:42 a.m. to report large flames on the backside of a two-story house in the 2500 block of 124th Place SE. He also reported hearing smoke alarms sounding inside and no answer when he knocked on the door.

“The back of the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Firefighters were able to search the home and determine no one was inside,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
