Council votes unanimously to approve contract with union employees

Members of the city council came back from their annual summer hiatus to take care of some critical financial issues.
The first order of business at the Aug. 7 meeting was to put an end to what had been antagonistic negotiations between the city and the employees’ union. The council voted unanimously to finalize the tentative four-year agreement. Councilmember Mike Todd was on vacation and did not attend the meeting.
The new contract falls within the city’s adopted 2027-2018 biennial budget according to Director of Communications and Marketing Joni Kirk.
