Mill Creek Town Center is getting a new, publicly accessible community composting bin built entirely out of 100% recycled wood. This gives local residents a free spot to drop off organic food scraps without paying for expensive home setups or commercial collection fees.
Compost the Creek, a local nonprofit funded through grants and banking support from U.S. Bank, supports the installation to serve the greater Mill Creek and Lynnwood area. Private curbside organic services and home composting hardware can be out of reach for lower-income households.
By offering a free, sustainably constructed public bin, the organization aims to help narrow local equity gaps so every family can participate in waste reduction.
Near 153rd Street SE, the recycled wood station makes dropping off food scraps simple and accessible to all. If you would like to support the expansion of free community environmental infrastructure like this, you can donate to Compost the Creek.
