How climate change affects agriculture and food security

Posted

Did you know that climate change can make farming harder?

It can decrease global food security. Food security is the availability of nutritious food and economic access to food. Most people think climate change does not impact people and just impacts wildlife.

That is not true. Every year, several human activities become more difficult due to the direct implications of climate change. One of them is agriculture.

As a middle schooler, I have serious concern about the impact of climate change on global food security. It can reduce the efficiency of farming techniques. It can make resources like water harder to access and can affect our food supply.

The good news is we can make changes to reduce the impact of climate change. One simple change is to reduce the amount of food you waste.

You can also support local farmers as this cuts down on carbon emissions from transportation costs. One of the most impactful ways you can stop climate change is to advocate for government policies that enable sustainable farming practices.

Eventually, all food produce should have ratings indicating environmental impact. This way, we can ensure people can buy sustainable food produce.

Climate change is not a distant threat, but rather something that is happening right now. You must take action to preserve our planet for future generations.

Climate change may be something big, but together we can stop it.
