The only Coastie to receive the Medal of Honor | Darn Wright

This coming Aug. 4, those who served in our country's oldest federal government organization will be celebrating their 1790 founding. Even with their long 231-years-old U.S. Coast Guard's history, only one "Coastie" has received our nation's highest military recognition, the Medal of Honor (MOH).
After a very proud veteran Coastie, John Lovick, told me about this MOH recipient, I wanted to know more about this hero so, I bought a copy of Gary Williams' book, "Guardian of Guadalcanal: The World War II Story of Douglas A. Munro, United States Coast Guard."
