Mill Creek city councilmembers voted 7-0 in favor of putting the question of whether to change which organization provides fire service at a special meeting on Feb. 15.
City staff have been discussing the issue for months, and recommended the City be annexed by South County Fire because it can provide fire service at a lesser cost than Snohomish Country Regional Fire.
South Country Fire covers neighboring areas around Mill Creek, including Silver Firs and Martha Lake, among others.
Staff have said that most South County Fire customers pay around $2 per $1,000 for fire service.
