After more than three years of turmoil and two years of legal wrangling, the City of Mill Creek and former Communications & Marketing Director Joni Kirk have settled her lawsuit against the City.

Kirk had been placed on paid administrative leave in the spring of 2019 after she surreptitiously recorded a meeting at which she intended to fire another employee.

Recording and disclosure of private conversations without permission is listed as a gross misdemeanor under Washington state law.
