Commencement is one of my favorite parts about working in education. Seeing years of commitment and hard work commemorated in such a meaningful way, in front of family and friends, is always touching. And this year we are excited graduation ceremonies will be in person. Our three comprehensive high schools, Cascade, Jackson and Everett, are holding commencement ceremonies on June 19 at Everett Memorial Stadium, at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. respectively. Sequoia is having commencement at Everett Civic Auditorium on June 17 at 6 p.m. Because of social distancing requirements, graduating seniors are given a limited number of tickets and tickets are required at the door. There will be live streaming of each ceremony for those who would like to watch from a distance.

I would like to be the first to congratulate Everett Public Schools' class of 2021. You have dedicated 13 years of education to get to this point. Persistence and determination brought you this far and will continue to guide you into the future.

Look how far you have come during your time here in Everett Public Schools! The lessons you have learned because of your choice to earn this diploma are real-life lessons. You have proven that making a choice makes it possible to accomplish much. Earning your diploma is an important milestone that will help you in pursuing your life-long dreams. Maybe you will choose to enroll in higher education, learn a trade, join the military or enter the work force. Whatever you choose, I have no doubt you will achieve your personal goals and dreams if you continue to use the skills and characteristics you developed during your educational career here in Everett Public Schools.

As your superintendent, I cannot express how very proud I am of all of you. The way you have handled the challenges of the last year and a half with poise is a tremendous joy to me. You have finished your high school education like champions.

Congratulations! I cannot wait to hear all the wonderful things you accomplish in the future.
