State agencies emphasize management of debris

Litter is a problem on state highways and also a hazard when garbage and debris falls from moving vehicles.
Unsecured loads in truckbeds and atop cars are a safety hazard, and one that four agencies statewide are emphasizing.
The Department of Ecology and Transportation, the Washington Traffic Safety Commission and the Washington State Patrol have joined for a statewide safety and litter prevention campaign the week of May 24. "We Keep Washington Litter Free" has a twin goal of litter on state highways, and the hazard of that debris falling from vehicles when drivers fail to secure loads.
