Eligibility for the Pfizer vaccine was approved for kids 12 to 15 years of age, expanding the vaccination effort that has been open to all 16 and up.
The CDC validated a decision by the FDA May 12, allowing emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine for youth. Pfizer is already cleared for minors ages 16 and 17. Clinical trials showed the safety and efficacy that freed regulators to open the option to kids. More research is underway with the goal of expanding the vaccine to ages as young as 6 months.
