Seattle Hill Elementary school first-graders Patrick McCormack, front, and Alex Perry sit at attention in Feb. 22 onsite classes. Students returned to onsite education on Feb. 8, took a mid-winter break for a week, then returned again on Feb. 22. All students are masked and other protocols are in place to keep people apart and germs in-check.
The schools in Mill Creek are moving toward normal, but things still do not look like they did.

Kindergarteners and first graders returned to school on Feb. 8 at primary schools for Snohomish and Everett school districts. All are masked. Bus windows are open on the ride to and from school to increase ventilation. Recesses come with cordoned areas to keep groups small. Signage and painted shapes on the ground direct kids to walk one direction to minimize contact, and stay 6 feet apart in classes and elsewhere.
Second and third graders return March 1, to Everett Public Schools. The return of fourth and fifth graders on March 15 was announced in the Everett School Board meeting last night (Feb. 23).
In Snohomish School District, Feb. 8 was also the return for youngest students. Feb. 22 classes resumed after mid-winter break and that school district kicked off a clinical trial, to voluntarily test for asymptomatic cases of COVID-19.
