Storm water compliance issue coming up in March

Penalties are high, but unlikely

The $10,000 per day violation fee that could be charged to the City of Mill Creek for storm water compliance issues is unlikely to happen, but it could be a consequence of non-compliance.

"There is a statutory authorization to set penalties at $10,000 per day per violation, but that's one among many tools in the kit, and it's usually not the first one we reach for," said Larry Altose, communications manager for the northwest regional office of the Department of Ecology.
