Hospital is a second home for a family of three

Penelope Aguilera is not yet 18 months old – her 2nd birthday is July 3. She was diagnosed with a rare cancer as an infant. Her new medicine has "changed her life," J.B. Aguilera said. She is thriving, with a lot of high-quality medical care and her parents by her side.

The Aguilera family hopes to celebrate at home on July 3, like they did on Christmas.

July 3 is Penelope Aguilera's second birthday, but if things go as they are now they may be at the hospital instead. Christmas was like that too – they hoped to be home, and were able to do that, but ended up back in the hospital, right after the holiday ended.

"I wish she could verbalize what she's thinking and what she's feeling. I feel like she would, if she could talk, she would reassure us that 'It's going be OK, yes, this is going to be fine. We're going to get through this,'" said Penelope's mom...
