Tips may help solve the case of Rodney Johnson's death

Details of people, activities and other memories could help solve a murder that traces back to a man who went missing in the late 1980s.
It was 1987 or 1988 when Rodney Peter Johnson, then about 25, told a family member he was going on a camping trip. He was reported missing to The Salvation Army around that time, but police did not get word of his disappearance until 1996, when another report was filed with law enforcement.
"I didn't know they had a missing persons' unit," Jim Scharf, detective for the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Unit told the Beacon.
