The Mill Creek Police Department is asking for the public's help investigating a shooting that took place Tuesday night around 6:14 p.m. The incident may have occurred within or near the city limits of Mill Creek, or near Bothell-Everet Highway July 7.
Officers were sent to Swedish Mill Creek after a report of a female victim with a gunshot wound. When officers arrived at the hospital, they found a 24-year-old Black woman from Kenmore, Washington. She was alert and conscious when officers arrived. The victim told police that she had been walking with her boyfriend near the road when she was "struck in the knee after hearing a loud noise nearby," according to a police press release. Officers were unable to determine exactly where the incident occurred based on the victim's information, but Bothell-Everett Highway was named as the closest major road. However, none of the local law enforcement near Bothell-Everett Highway reported any calls of assault Tuesday evening.
The victim said she was shot near a gray gas station and several apartment buildings; she was "adamant" that the gas station was not a 76 station, according to the press release. There were also trees and hilly terrain nearby. A passing vehicle stopped to give the victim and her boyfriend a ride to the hospital.
Police are seeking any information from the public about the event and would like to speak with the driver who took the couple to the hospital. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detective Chris White at 425-921-5759.
