City lays off four employees amid coronavirus-induced revenue shortfalls

City Council members learned that the City will need to lay off four employees in light of the COVID-19 pandemic – and it was the first time some of those staff members had learned the news, too.
"I do have to say that I am quite disappointed to be hearing this info during a public meeting. Common courtesy might have been to notify the affected employees and/or union, in order to maybe come to the table," said Kim Mason-Hatt, who works in the Public Works Department, during the public comment period of the June 9 City Council meeting.
