Former police chief says City's allegations 'paint a harsher picture' of his actions

The City says Greg Elwin's actions were 'unbecoming,' and he failed to report a safety issue. Elwin told the Beacon the City's allegations are more severe than what actually happened.

Former Mill Creek Police Chief Greg Elwin and the City entered a separation agreement in early May, after the former chief had been on leave since January amid an investigation into misconduct. Elwin told the Beacon that the City's allegations "paint a harsher picture" than what actually happened.

City Manager Michael Ciaravino told former Mill Creek Police Chief Greg Elwin that he took an "ostrich approach" to critical City safety issues and gave his daughter special treatment in regards to her traffic warrants, in his April 8 letter informing Elwin of his intent to fire him.

The Beacon spoke exclusively to Elwin about the allegations against him. He said the City's allegations "paint a harsher picture" of his actions than his recollection of events.
