Jackson High students pledge not to vape

The “No Vape Pledge” kicked off on Tuesday, Oct. 22. A freshman student took a stand against the deadly outbreak that has led to over a thousand lung illnesses and more than two dozen deaths nationwide.

Earlier this month, freshman Katerina Vaagen met with Principal Dave Peters to discuss her idea of initiating a student-led pledge drive to encourage her fellow students and staff members not to vape.

The project was immediately approved. She then set up a pledge table during lunches and deemed Oct. 22 as “No Vape Pledge Day.” Vaagan, along with fellow student, Avery Kirscht, shared...
