Jackson’s Thomas wins Snohomish Summer Smash crown | Tennis

Jackson’s Brady Thomas dominated his rivals at the fifth annual Snohomish Summer Smash tennis tournament Saturday, July 27, at Snohomish High School.
Thomas, who finished second at the 4A state tournament, did not drop a single game en rout to winning the Boys Gold Division singles championship. The Jackson standout beat Lake Stevens’ Ethan Hoglund 6-0, 6-0 in the finals. Thomas also teamed up with Jackson’s Anuj Vimawala to defeat Snohomish’s Cade Strickland and Macen Strickland 6-0, 6-0 to claim the Boys Gold Doubles title. Vimawala and Jackson’s Daniel Sohn won the 4A state doubles crown last spring.
Jackson’s Shubhi Handa and Naisha Sinha defeated Snohomish’s Jadyn Mueller and Lauren Riske 4-6, 6-0, 12-10 in the Girls Gold Division Doubles finals.
Kamiak’s Leah Robison defeated Edmonds-Woodway’s Natalie Paulson 6-1, 6-4, in the singles championship match. Robison, a 4A state participant, beat Snohomish’s Maia Marks 6-3, 6-0 in the quarterfinals and then upended Lake Stevens’ Mia Nelson 6-0, 6-3 in the semifinals.
