Grizzlies, Wolfpack finish strong at Wesco 4A meet | Track and field

Glacier Peak Riley McDowell is in the lead in the 1,600 ahead of Jackson's Joseph Skoog at the Wesco 4A championships.

Glacier Peak senior Riley McDowell and junior Ethan Willems both ran away with a pair victories at the Wesco 4A boys track and field championships Wednesday and Friday, May 8 and 10, at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Snohomish.

Willems took first place in the 200-meter race in 22.19 seconds and won the 400 in 49.07. McDowell captured the 800 in career best time of 1:56.86 and cruised to a win in the 1,600 in 4:18.60. He also placed second to Jackson’s Joseph Skoog in the 3,200. Skoog won the race in 9:38.87, while McDowell clocked in at 9:47.33. Skoog placed second in the 1,600.
