The positive results for one member of the Mill Creek City Council on election night have apparently set the stage for a new round of interviews for an open seat.
Councilmember Jared Mead, a Democrat who took his seat on the seven-member board in January, plans to step down when he assumes the duties of state representative in Position 2, representing the 44th Legislative District.
Mead defeated incumbent Republican lawmaker Mark Harmsworth in the general election on Nov. 6.
Mead told The Beacon he plans to resign before the end of the year, but will do whatever is best for the city.
