Grizzly runners go the distance at state championships | Track and field

Glacier Peak’s track team found much of its success at the 4A state championships courtesy of its distance runners.
In an event that was top heavy with young talent, including having three competitors with top-100 nationally ranked times, Glacier Peak junior Riley McDowell, finished third in the 3,200.
“Our entire junior class is just so many outstanding athletes it’s insane,” McDowell said.
While McDowell had hoped for a better finish in the event, he also placed fifth in the 1,600 and will still have one more season to chase a championship.
With potentially lofty expectations...
