Family and friends made up only a portion of the estimated 350 people who attended the annual Multicultural Night at Woodside Elementary School last month.

Students at the school shared displays, performed dances and served foods that represented their individual heritage during the third annual event at the school in Bothell that serves the Mill Creek community.

“The Multicultural event reminds us that our community is made up of a diverse group of people from different regions of the world, each with its own unique set of customs and traditions,” said Marisa Moreno, the mother of one current student at Woodside as well as a recent graduate. “The students have a great deal of pride in their heritage. It’s a pleasure to share with them.”

Each visitor was given a passport they could have stamped at each booth when they entered the gymnasium to assure each person had the opportunity to share in the dozens of cultures represented by the students at Woodside. The exhibit also featured flags from countries around the world displayed on the walls of the cafeteria and gymnasium.

Besides food and dance, other booths featured activities that included story telling, games and cultural activities.
