Medical condition forces police K9 into early retirement

The Mill Creek Police Department’s first service dog has been forced to retire a full year ahead of schedule due to an unspecified medical condition. The pure-bred German Shepherd named Rasko had been with the Mill Creek Police Department since 2013.

The city’s first four-legged officer will live out the remainder of his life at the home of his partner and handler, Mill Creek Officer Ian Durkee. His last on day on duty was March 13.
