Many of Edmonds’ top movers and shakers are praising Rick Steves’ generosity this week after he announced a $2 million pledge to support the construction of the planned new Edmonds Waterfront Center being built by the Edmonds Senior Center in partnership with the city of Edmonds.

But Steves, who in recent years has become one of the city’s top philanthropists, has a different take.
