‘Eruption’: Mount St. Helens author speaking in Edmonds

When award-winning science writer Steve Olson returned to Seattle in 2009 after 35 years on the East Coast, he decided he wanted to write a book about his native state.
“The eruption of Mount St. Helens was obviously the most dramatic thing that has ever happened here, so I decided to write about that,” said Olson, who will speak Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Edmonds Library.
His book, “Eruption: The Untold Story of Mount St. Helens,” released in March by Norton, has received favorable reviews for its gripping account of the May 18, 1980, natural disaster that claimed 57 lives. Amazon...
